Mount Notre Dame is proud to announce that Social Studies teacher, Ms. Maggie Zolides, is one of seven Ohio high school teachers selected to study in Poland this June as a part of a Fulbright-Hays Group Projects Abroad (GPA) program through Wittenburg University. The purpose of the Fulbright-Hays GPA program is to encourage international goodwill and cultural exchange. Additionally, the program supports overseas projects in training, research, and curriculum development among educators at the K-12, higher education, and graduate student levels.
While in Poland, Mrs. Zolides will be focusing on Holocaust history, Polish culture, and the current political climate in the country as well as region.
MND Principal, Mrs. Karen Day commented, “Mrs. Zolides serves as an exemplary role model for our students, demonstrating inspiration both within and beyond the classroom. Her teaching approach is marked by innovation, bringing creativity to the classroom environment and offering constructive feedback that fosters growth. Her commitment to ongoing learning, exemplified by her participation in the Fulbright-Hays program, not only enriches her own professional development but also instills in our students the value of lifelong learning.”
Mrs. Zolides has been teaching Social Studies for 13 years. She obtained her Bachelors in History and Secondary Education from Xavier University. In addition to teaching, she is currently working towards her Masters in School Counseling at Xavier University.
