Our daughter Lindsey was a MND ’15 graduate and our sons, Matt ’08 and Eric ’13 were Moeller grads. We initially started a partial four-year Moeller scholarship when a fellow St. Michael parishioner wanted to attend Moeller but did not have the financial funds. Attending Moeller was all he wanted for Christmas. This pulled on our hearts. This was the start of sponsoring partial four-year Moeller scholarships for two young men and grew to two more young men and currently we are sponsoring two more young men. Once Lindsey graduated, we sponsored two MND young women through graduation and decided that it was time to support a MND Endowed Scholarship. We both strongly believe in our Catholic faith and valued a strong Catholic education afforded them from MND and Moeller. We saw the impact our children received not only in academics but in their relationships with God and their peers, teammates, faculty, and coaches. We knew we were blessed to be able to send our children to outstanding schools but realized this is not a reality for many. So, we contributed to the scholarships with the requirement that the students meet financial assistance and be actively involved with their parish/church (students do not have to be Catholic) on a regular basis. This could be as a lector, greeter, server, choir member, instrumentalist, eucharistic minister, etc. We hoped that this would keep a young student involved with their parish/church not only to give back but also to strengthen their faith relationship during a time when many young people leave the church. We have really enjoyed our interactions with our student scholarship recipients and witnessing their growth through their four high school years. It truly has been a privilege and are immensely grateful that we had the finances to make this happen. A little about us: Matt, an ER physician, is married to Amy, and they have three sons-newborn, two and four-year olds. Eric, a retired CPA who is now a physical trainer and body builder is married to Denae, and Lindsey, a RN patient case manager is married to Charlie. We could not be more proud of our children and credit their education’s impact on enhancing them academically, socially and spiritually. Mark is a pulmonary and critical care intensivist and Barb is a retired RN who love to travel and spend time with their family, especially the grandsons. Mark is an avid bicyclist when he is not working and that will happen soon as he retires in the next year. Scholarship is award to a student needing financial assistance and active and regular service at their place of worship.
